The wait for the 2025 racing action in the World Endurance Championship will finally come to an end this Easter weekend. With the historic 24 Heures Motos event in Le Mans, France, the endurance season also begins for the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team, in which Markus Reiterberger will compete this year together with Sylvain Guintoli, Steven Odendaal and Hannes Soomer.
However, the 31-year-old from Obing in Bavaria was not bored during the off-season, as he was on the road with the official BMW Test Team at numerous WorldSBK and Endurance tests and put the BMW M 1000 RR through its paces. In December and January, Reiti flew to Jerez de la Frontera in Spain for this purpose. Immediately afterwards, he travelled to the Portuguese Algarve and then back to Spain in Valencia in March. The test for the upcoming weekend in Le Mans took place at the beginning of the month. The last two tests in particular were very promising with best times and a good feeling.
Expectations are correspondingly high. In 2025, the aim is clearly to win the title in the FIM Endurance World Championship. The foundations have been laid. With even more support from the factory, a new tyre supplier and a new team structure, the team is well positioned and ready to tackle this major task.
Markus Reiterberger:
‘I'm really looking forward to the new season. We have changed a lot in the team and around the motorbike. We have a new team structure, a new tyre supplier who is prepared for everything and the atmosphere is generally very good. We are all highly motivated and clearly want to fight for victories and the title. That is now more realistic than ever. We finished the tests in Valencia and here in Le Mans with the best time, so motivation is high. But endurance racing is always critical. Mistakes can always happen, so we can't rest on our laurels and have to keep working hard. I just hope that the weather will play along and that there will be slightly better conditions at Le Mans this year, not as cold and wet as the last few years.’
