Nürburgring EuroMoto Preview

It’s hard to believe, but the 2026 EuroMoto season is already drawing to a close with this year’s penultimate event, which takes place this coming weekend from 4 to 6 September at the Nürburgring. The championship took a break from the legendary circuit in the Eifel from 2021 up to and including 2023, after the 2021 event had to be cancelled due to the devastating floods in the Ahr Valley. In 2024 and 2025, the series – then still known as the IDM (International German Motorcycle Championship) – returned to the Eifel.

Markus Reiterberger and the Masteroil Alpha Van Zon BMW Team are looking forward to the weekend with confidence, because even though the hoped-for victory at the last EuroMoto round in Assen, the Netherlands, did not materialise, the lap times and the excellent teamwork clearly showed that they can hold their own against the factory Ducatis and Yamahas in the battle for victory.

The aim for the coming weekend is quite clearly to ensure that the positive run continues, and naturally the focus is on that long-awaited victory. Although Reiti discovered at Assen that he copes very well with the BMW M 1000 RR even in the rain, he still hopes that the famously unpredictable weather at the Nürburgring, the ‘Green Hell’, will hold off.

“We’re really motivated by the fact that, following the positive results at Assen, we can go head-to-head with the factory Ducatis and Yamahas in the battle for victory. I haven’t been to the Nürburgring for a while, so the others have a slight advantage. I’ve always liked the circuit. It’s important that the weather doesn’t throw a spanner in the works here. Although we saw in Assen just how strong we can be in the rain, the Nürburgring is known for some pretty extreme weather conditions. I’m looking forward to a great event where I can at least finish on the podium. At Assen, my team and I worked very well together, and I hope this positive trend continues in the Eifel. We saw at Assen that we can compete with the factory bikes without making any concessions and on a standard stock bike, and that gives us the motivation we need to go on the attack again at the Nürburgring.”
