(EN) Preview Qatar

The curtain of the season 2019 falls in the desert of Qatar

And the season of the FIM MOTUL Superbike world championship 2019 is already coming to an end next weekend, when the 13th event of the year is taking place at the Losail International Circuit. It has not been an easy year for Markus Reiterberger, but nevertheless Reiti was able to gain many impressions and could also ride the one or another racetrack he has never been on before. Not in Qatar though, as the 25-years-old already got some experiences at this circuit in 2016.

The racetrack in the desert at the gates of Doha, popped up on the WorldSBK-calendar in 2005 for the very first time. It has been a permanent feature of the championship until 2009. The venue then paused until 2014. In 2019 the Superbike world championship returns to Qatar for the sixth time in a row. The desert-course, with its 5.38 km, ist the longest track amongst the WorldSBK-venues. The conditions are tricky, because of the very variable weather and the amount of sand around the track. Also the riding under floodlights is always special. Reiti will do his best to finish the season in a good way.

Markus Reiterberger, #28: “I hope for an improvement in Qatar after the difficult weekend in Argentina. I know the circuit from 2016, when I raced there in WorldSBK. I hope the track will suit our new BMW S 1000 RR and am looking forward to the race weekend in Qatar. My goal is to end the season as strongly as possible. I want to work well with the team again. Together, we will try to make some progress. The weekend will obviously be a bit emotional for me – after all, these are my last races in the Superbike World Championship with the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team. However, I am looking forward to Qatar and am grateful.”
