EuroMoto Assen Preview: 14–16 August

With pride and the courage to attack

It has been two weeks since the last round of the EuroMoto Championship, and everyone involved has recovered from the scare in Race 1, when an oil spill caused a mass crash in which Markus Reiterberger was also involved. What remains for the Masteroil Alpha Van Zon BMW Team from the last EuroMoto weekend at Oschersleben is a new set-up that Reiti is getting on well with, pride in the team’s superb collaboration following the serious crash and during the rebuild of the BMW M 1000 RR, and the confidence that the long-awaited victory could finally come this coming weekend at Assen in the Netherlands.

The historic race track, which is also known as the ‘cathedral of motorcycling’ due to its rich history, is a favourite of Markus Reiterberger, who has enjoyed many successes here, such as during his last appearance at the TT Circuit in 2022, when he won both races. The Bavarian is looking forward to the upcoming event and is confident that he has a chance of victory.

Markus Reiterberger:

“I’m looking forward to Assen; the circuit suits me well. I’ve enjoyed a lot of success here before, and following the positive result in the second race at Oschersleben, we’re confident we have a chance of winning. Werner Daemen and I are very proud of the team’s performance following the devastating crash in the first race at Oschersleben. The team has done a brilliant job of building a completely new bike, and we’ve also made progress with the set-up. I think we can be even stronger at Assen. I feel at home there and victory is definitely the goal. I hope the weather plays along. I’ve been preparing over the last two days by felling trees infested with bark beetles – that was a really tough workout.”
