After Ricardo Brink, the previous team rider of BCC Racing in the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM), announced that he would concentrate completely on the Dutch Championship and end his contract in the IDM SBK1000 class, the team announces today the substitute rider for the rest of the IDM season 2021 and it is none other than Markus Reiterberger.
The three-time German SBK1000 champion, STK1000 European champion and BMW regular will ride the BMW S 1000 RR of the BCC Racing Team at the event on the „Schleizer Dreieck“ racetrack in one week. A BMW M 1000 RR is available for the two events in Spielberg and Hockenheim, thanks to the cooperation with MRP Motorsport Racing Parts & Tyres of Reiterberger’s manager Werner Daemen. Unfortunately, "Reiti" has to sit out for the event on the TT Circuit in Assen in the Netherlands, as a test with the BMW Endurance world championship team of the EGS-alpha-Van Zon-BMW team boss Werner Daemen takes place on the same weekend. For the IDM races at the Red Bull Ring in Austria and the season finale at the Hockenheimring, the 27-year-old Bavarian will steer the BMW for BCC Racing again.
This end to the 2021 season should only be the cornerstone for further collaboration for Andy Gerlich's BCC Racing Team. Reiterberger, Daemen and Gerlich are already talking about further collaborations for the coming season.
Andreas Gerlich, BCC Racing: “Of course I am very happy that we were able to win Reiti for our team. With the experience he brings along, we cannot think of any better one than him. I have known Markus since his early racing days and I value him and his father very much, so I am particularly happy that he will return to the IDM with us."
Werner Daemen, MRP Motorsport Racing Parts & Tyres: “My company MRP Motorsport Racing Parts & Tyres is preparing the BMW M 1000 RR, which Markus will then ride at the Red Bull Ring and in Hockenheim for Andy Gerlich and his BCC Racing team. For me it is important that Markus is in good training and that he achieves good results for BCC Racing. The Asian Championship was supposed to give him the necessary practice time, but unfortunately it couldn't take place. It is always good for a rider to practice, also to call up his performance under pressure, which he can do very well within the IDM. If the cooperation between MRP Motorsport Racing Parts & Tiyes and BCC Racing goes well for the three events, then we will certainly also talk about further projects for 2022."
Markus Reiterberger: “I am very happy about this opportunity. I have fond memories of the last few years at IDM. So I'm grateful that my manager Werner and BCC Racing and BMW gave me the opportunity to return to the championship. I will do my best to get good results for the team. For me it is important to do sprint races in order to be able to properly do my training. As far as my other commitments allow, I will finish the 2021 season for BCC Racing. I'm particularly looking forward to the race in Schleiz. Schleiz is not only my favorite track, the atmosphere with the fans is always very special there too."
