Markus Reiterberger returned at the Schleizer Dreieck to the IDM paddock. Thanks to the cooperation between Masteroil and team boss Werner Daemen there was an opportunity for a wildcard with the "Masteroil by MRP" team. The weekend was extremely successful for "Reiti". The four-time IDM champion started the races from the front row and fought for the victories. In the end he finished both races in second place. He was only narrowly beaten by EWC team-mate Ilya Mikhalchik, who won both races.
Schleiz is a big thing for the 30-year-old German from Obing. Alongside Spa, the circuit is one of his absolute favourites. Reiterberger has been a member of MSC Schleizer Dreieck e. V. since the 100th anniversary of the iconic race track, which is popular with riders and fans alike. He is the holder of several records.
However, the return to the IDM was a major challenge, especially because there was no experience with the completely rebuilt motorbike and Reiti recently rode only with Dunlop tyres. He celebrated his successes with Dunlop tyres in both the Endurance World Championship and the Asian Championship. The four-time IDM champion ultimately mastered the transition to Pirelli tyres with ease.
His participation was made possible thanks to team boss Werner Daemen, Masteroil and the active and financial support of his long-standing personal sponsors BMW Motorrad and Alpharacing. As Reiti only competed as a guest starter, he was not eligible for points according to the regulations.
Markus Reiterberger:
"It was another great weekend in Schleiz! On Friday and Saturday I still had some problems with the bike, which was very unstable and didn't build up much grip. We changed a few things from Saturday to Sunday. From then on I was immediately fast again. I wish we had started with this base on Friday. In the second race, I was within striking distance of the victory. I really gave everything, more than 100 per cent. On the last lap, I was fighting hard. As I couldn't quite hold the line in the last corner, victory went to Ilya. Nevertheless, the race was really cool! Of course, a win would have been great. But it was also a breathtaking weekend in front of a great crowd. I'm very grateful that I was able to take part and would like to thank my entire team and everyone who supported me."
