Markus Reiterberger (Onexox BMW TKKR Racing) faces the second event of the 2023 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC). After the season opener in Buriram (Thailand) at the end of March, the season continues this weekend in Sepang (Malaysia).
Reiti knows the Sepang International Circuit well from his time in the World Superbike. He also finished on the podium at the World Endurance race in the 2019 season at Sepang together with BMW team-mate Ilya Mikhalchik.
The 29-year-old German also has good memories of his debut in the ARRC three years ago. At the 2020 season opener in Sepang, Reiti dominated the action in the dry and took a superior victory in the second race.
Markus Reiterberger:
"I am really looking forward to the weekend in Sepang. Three years ago, Sepang was the only event before the ARRC season was cancelled because of the pandemic. Back then it went really well for us. We were brutally fast the whole weekend. Our lap times were comparable to those of the World Superbike at that time. After fourth place in the rainy first race, I won the second race and finished with a big advantage. I really like the track in Sepang. But the heat will certainly be a big challenge again. The Asian riders are better used to such conditions than us Europeans. But I prefer it to be too warm than too cold. After the disappointing start in Thailand, we want to finish on the podium in Malaysia and fight for the wins in the races!"
