Under best weather conditions and thirsty for action, the first official test of the new BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team was taking place on 17thand 18thof December 2018 in Almeria, Spain. Markus Reiterberger (24) was able to mount his new BMW-Superbike for the first time and could gain important data in preparation of the upcoming WorldSBK-season.
With his new crew for the season 2019, Reiterberger put the BMW S1000 RR through its paces. Also at side was his former test-team around manager Werner Daemen. Diverse chassis set ups, different geometries, electronics settings and so on, were part of the test. As the seating position and the position of the handlebar already felt good for the Youngster from Obing, a good base for the test was found quickly. The focus was not put on any lap times yet, but on gaining experiences with the BMW motorbike.
Without crashes, or other failures the first official test of the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team around team manager Shaun Muir (GBR) went well for all participants involved. Now the technicians of BMW have the responsible task to evaluate all collected data from this test over the winter break and to put the BMW-Superbike on a solid base for the 2019 season to deliver a fast and constant performance.

“I am very satisfied with the first roll out. Everything went well inside the team and I was able to settle with everyone. My main mechanic from the past years has been integrated into the team and at this test I also had my long-term data-guy with me. The support on site was really good. Many technicians from Nisson and Öhlins were present. We have mainly concentrated on diverse function tests. This, for sure, is not the last update of the bike yet, but for the first test it was quite satisfying. Now we will go into a short, but well-deserved winter break, as the last couple of weeks were quite exhausting for all of us. I want to use this opportunity to thank all my supporters, who made this step even possible for me. I am confident that we will get to success together, the sooner or later.
