It is the second round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World championship 2019 that takes place on the upcoming weekend from 15thto 17thof March at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand. It is not the first visit of the WorldSBK on the four and a half kilometres long racetrack in the North-East of Thailand, which is located about five driving hours from the capital Bangkok. The course in Buriram is not a stranger to “Reiti” and counts as one of his favourite tracks, as it was here were he gained his best result inside the WorldSBK championship so far with a fifth place in 2016. The Pirelli Thai Round will be a challenge for everybody this weekend as at this time of the year it can easily reach tropical temperatures around 40 °C and higher.
The Chang International Circuit not only has twelve corners, it also offers some hard breaking points and that also is a strong point of Markus Reiterberger and his BMW S 1000 RR. Therefore the 25-years-old is highly motivated and is looking forward to the second round of the World championship. Furthermore he and his crew at the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team have found a positive direction at Phillip Island that they hope to continue in Thailand.
Markus Reiterberger #28: “I really like the track and I had my best result in Superbike here in 2016 – the fifth place. The track suits my riding style with the hard breaking really good. That is not only one of my skills; it also suits our new bike quite well. On the long straights we have to keep the wolf from the door and try to make up again, what we are losing there, in the corners. But I think this weekend will be a challenge for all of us due to this enormous heat. But I am well prepared and I am looking forward to this weekend, as I really do like the track. On the last day at Phillip Island we have found a positive direction and we are bringing that to Thailand with us.”
